Summary
Cam Sinclair has come from a political activism background, providing him with a deep knowledge of how people make decisions. With this essential knowledge for marketing, Cam had built his own company, Ammo Marketing. He aims to help people that are finding their own business.
Cam had run an ecommerce business of his own before starting Ammo Marketing. He said he learned many lessons from this experience. It was his introduction to eBay, building an ecommerce website, Facebook ads, Google Shopping, customer retention, and so on. This experience helps him do what he is doing now.
Through his experience of running an ecommerce business, Cam found a big benefit of digital marketing. Unlike traditional advertising, digital marketing makes it easier to experiment and collect data on your marketing. Once you collect data, you can optimise your sales and future expense. You can start small and tweak aspects that are fixable over time.
Simon then touched on Ammo Marketing’s passion for “Growth Hacking for Startups”. Cam explained that it is about finding a way to grow your customer base or raise awareness of your product without relying on traditional advertising. After all, most startups will have a limited marketing budget. According to Cam, one of the most popular and efficient ways of growth hacking is to use the network of your existing users.
Lastly, Cam shared 5 marketing tips for ecommerce businesses. The first one is to make sure to get as many reviews and testimonials from your existing customers. Next, communicate with your existing customers and provide quality content. The third one is to utilise your customer email list to re-engage with them. With the email list, you can then target a similar audience on platforms like Facebook. Lastly, keep your ecommerce site as user friendly as possible.
