Summary
The first half of this episode is mainly about the ecommerce industry and its trends. The second half will cover topics on how to make ecommerce businesses work. Let’s go through each piece of advice.
- Ecommerce is a growing space in Australia. With technologies growing in Australia, on-demand dispatch is getting easier. This further pushes the online shopping notion.
- Multi-channel/Omni-channel retail is a trend. Traditional commerce and ecommerce are fusing. Such notions are seen in services such as click-and-connect and pop-up shops. Pop-up shops are a great strategy for ecommerce stores.
- Ask your ecommerce friend for inspiration on a niche ecommerce market. Ask how they started and what kind of equipment or service they are using. Just make sure not to copy their designs.
- Cam’s advice: nurture your existing customers and re-market to a similar audience. Reaching out to a new audience is more challenging. Instead, take care of the customers that love you already. Get their testimonials and feedback to provide better.
- Ollie’s advice: re-target abandoned carts. Facebook ads are solid for certain industries. Instagram is for the young generation. Google Ads can be hard to set up, but the buyer intent behind searches is big. If you are struggling with the Australian market, the UK market is a great place to try selling.
- Ming’s advice: having a story or message behind your ecommerce brand is significant. That can be connected with your personal story or branding too. It can make a connection with your potential consumers.
- Neil’s advice: Shopify and Woocommerce have their pros and cons. Make sure to research them and choose the one that suits your needs. Bigcommerce is also a good choice. Lastly, go out there and ask your customers why they are using you.
